Overview
The Baddhasima Pasada is situated with Lankatilaka and Kiri vihara on the Alahana Parivena complex. The Baddhasima Pasada is also known as a convocation hall.
According to the chronicle Chulawansa, this has been a 12-storey building. This is 106x113 feet in size and originally had 108 stone pillars. The red shaded painting can be still seen on some of the walls of this building.
The Baddhasima Pasada, also known as the Buddha Seema Pasada, was built on the highest platform at the Alahena Pirivena. The chapter house was the building from which the rules of the Sangha or the Order of the Buddhist monks were enforced.
After King Parakramabahu united all Buddhist monks under one sect, the Baddhasima Pasada was built to ensure that these regulations were maintained.
