Overview
This nine metre high fall originates from a stream in Lihinigala, which is joined by another small brook. As with Hal Falls, local villagers claim to hear the sound of clothes being washed coming from the water.
The 1.5 km route to the fall from Mapalana village, Sri Paladabedda GS area (22km from Ratnapura) is difficult.
Sri Lanka is blessed with many breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls and the largest number is located in the Ratnapura District, where there are over 100 waterfalls. Be sure to see some in the cool climes of Nuwara Eliya too, where the water crashing down in all its beauty is guaranteed to enthral.
Sri Lanka’s waterfalls have interesting names and stories behind them, which are mostly related to folklore and legends, which make for interesting bits of information.
