Overview
The National Art Gallery is situated on Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7. It has three exhibition halls. One hall has been reserved for permanent exhibition.
The other two halls have been named as Eastern Hall and Western Hall and these two can be reserved for aesthetic works after making the payment for the number of days required.
The vision of the gallery is the upliftment of Sri Lankan culture in order to achieve the unique ambition of upgrading Sri Lankans to the position of spiritually developed and sensitive people, while its mission is the formulation and implementation of programmes with a Sri Lankan identity for conservation, promotion and propagation of literary, arts and cultural affairs.
The gallery has a permanent collection of portraits and landscapes, as well as some temporary exhibitions by Sri Lankan artists.
