Overview
Pasikudah Beach is the perfect place for people who would like to learn how to swim. The sand here is mostly flat up to 200 meters off the shore. At the same time, it has a great natural atmosphere. It remains mostly untouched as well.

Pasikudah is a coastal resort town located about 35 kilometres northwest of Batticaloa. It used to be a popular tourist destination before the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, after which the tourist numbers declined. The Sri Lankan civil war didn’t help Pasikudah’s cause either but the area is now popular again, with increasing numbers visiting since the end of the war.
Pasikudah is a destination that attracts locals and foreigners alike, especially since it has one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world. People are able to walk kilometres into the sea because the water is only a few inches deep and the current is relatively weak compared to the rest of Sri Lanka’s coasts.
Pasikudah is easily accessible from Trincomalee and Batticaloa, both of which cities have star class accommodation. Pasikudah is fast becoming an investor hub as foreign and local investors have shown interest in developing tourism along the beach.
