Overview
The Royal Palace, built by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century, is an impressive seven-storey building with palatial rooms, audience halls, and chambers famous for its fine stone carvings and timberwork.
The Audience Hall and Kumara Pokuna (Royal Bathing Pool) are main attractions of the Royal Palace. Around the hall and central edifice is a gallery containing 40 small chambers or rooms.
