Overview
Horton plains are one of Sri Lanka’s most treasured national parks. It is also one of the most beautiful and comfortable to be in due to the cool climate as it is in the mountains.  The entire park is covered in fauna and flora and is by far the greenest of all parks in the country.

Horton plains have been an attraction always to both the locals and foreigners. However since of late the attention the park has been getting in tremendous.  The park is an originating point for three of Sri Lanka largest rivers and is one of the most incredible sights you could see. Most people travel to Horton Plains to see the amazing herds of the Samba deer and the birds that inhabit the area. The Horton Plains boast a very famous location in Sri Lanka which has rapidly got to be known as the Worlds end. This is a precipice with almost a three thousand foot drop at the boundary of the park. People travel all the way to catch a glimpse off this amazing spot.  The valley you see below and clouds below you truly is magnificent and the view in a distance on a clear day is truly majestic.

The area around Horton Plains is quiet and peaceful and besides taking in the wonders of nature and the lush mountainside there is very little else to do here. It is not in any way a modern city and only those who are looking for some peace and relaxation should visit.

The plains are by far one of the world’s best nature reserves. It has some of the most beautiful surroundings with a drop back of mountains and hills with beautiful valleys connecting them at the bottom. The visitors to the park can follow a ten kilometer route that covers all the major attractions of the park if short for time and experience everything the park has to offer. This is something that every visitor to Sri Lanka should experience and simply should not be missed. Sri Lankan nature is something else and there is no better place to enjoy it than here.
